Your New Role As an RTR Senior Accountant within the EMEA Accounting Controllership team, you will be based in Warsaw, Poland, and collaborate directly with the RTR Accounting Manager. This role focuses on providing comprehensive accounting support for EMEA operations, ensuring compliance with global accounting standards (including US GAAP), and managing key financial reporting activities.
The Accounting Controllership team is responsible for a variety of tasks, including preparing statutory financial statements across multiple GAAP frameworks, reviewing account reconciliations, and supporting global financial reporting processes. Regular responsibilities involve maintaining compliance with audit requirements, as well as adhering to SOX and SEC guidelines. The team works closely with internal stakeholders such as the tax department, global business services (GBS), and external vendors. The region includes oversight of financial operations in multiple countries, such as the UK, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, and the Nordics.
This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles (US GAAP preferred) and offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful collaboration with cross-functional teams and leaders.
Responsibilities:
Perform assigned accounting tasks and processes, applying US GAAP standards, including preparation of management accounts and forecasts.
Oversee the month-end and quarter-end close process in collaboration with outsourcing providers, offering guidance and resolving issues as needed.
Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and maintain a robust internal control environment.
Prepare management reports, balance sheet flux analysis, SEC schedules, reconciliations, and other key financial metrics, including ad hoc reporting.
Coordinate with an offshore BPO team to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.
Resolve intercompany discrepancies and manage group-level accounting entries.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Monitor and review the completion of account reconciliations to ensure accurate balance sheet reporting.
Serve as a key liaison between financial teams, including FP&A, GBS, and other stakeholders, addressing escalations and driving improvements.
Requirements:
A degree in Finance or Accounting.
At least 4 years of experience in an accounting role, with a focus on general ledger (GL) functions and strong knowledge of accounting standards (US GAAP preferred).
Previous experience in a large, international company.
Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced MS Excel skills.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
